To boost the development of the Province of Cabo Delgado, the Provincial Directorates of Industry and Commerce, and Planning and Finance, already have Structural Projects to implement in the five-year period 2025-2029.
The projects were approved at the VII Ordinary Session of the Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado, held past Wednesday, April 30, 2025, in the City of Pemba.
The Provincial Directorate of Industry and Commerce will implement four manufacturing units in the Districts of Montepuez, Balama, Ancuabe and Palma, in Mecúfi, one of the largest salt producers. A salt refinery with a sanitization, iodization and packaging line is planned to reduce the import of cooking oil. The implementation of a cooking oil industry is planned in the District of Montepuez.
On the other hand, to reduce losses in tomato production, the Province could start processing and preserving this product by establishing an industry in the Montepuez District.
The Provincial Directorate of Industry and Commerce also plans to implement the following projects: construction of a juice factory, construction of a Wholesale Market in the Administrative Post of Metoro, in the District of Ancuabe, a geostrategic area that can accommodate traders from the Provinces of Nampula and Niassa and the Districts of Chiúre, Balama, Montepuez, as well as all the Districts of the Central and Northern regions of the Province.
In turn, the Provincial Directorate of Planning and Finance intends to operationalize an e-SISTAFE laboratory for the Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado, a web page to convey information and potential of the Province, design a manual of the portfolio of all the projects in the Province and translate it into other languages.
The Governor of Cabo Delgado Province, Valige Tauabo, speaking about the initiative to design structural projects, congratulated and praised it, explaining that it aims to facilitate the attraction of investments in all strategic areas.
