ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada (EMML) and Empresa Nacional de Hidrocarbonetos, E.P. (ENH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance the evaluation of Mozambique’s domestic gas projects. The MoU will focus on initiatives aimed at supporting industrialization in Mozambique, prioritizing the Cabo Delgado Province.
EMML intends to allocate up to USD 10 million to support studies and initiatives that advance Mozambique’s energy and industrial development.
This investment includes a comprehensive assessment of domestic gas opportunities such as gas to power, fertilizers, petrochemicals, and industrial applications. The studies will evaluate economic potential, identify key challenges, and propose solutions to help establish robust gas value chains.
A key milestone in this effort is the execution of the first Sales and Purchase Agreement (SPA) by the end of 2027, marking a major step toward commercializing gas from the Rovuma Basin. Joint working teams from EMML and ENH will collaborate with stakeholders to progress feasibility studies and technical assessments, while ENH will lead engagement with potential off takers to support this goal.
