The CD Parks model

Our model is designed to promote education, training, youth employment

The CD Parks model is designed to promote education, training, youth employment, community engagement and environmental sustainability. Working with MozParks and the MozYouth Foundation, CD Parks has developed a range of programmes with development assistance partners to meet these challenges.

Mozyouth Internship Programme

Striving to improve access to skilled work for young people in Mozambique

CD Parks strives to improve access to skilled work for young people in Mozambique. Internships double the probability of gaining fulltime employment and since 2018 MozYouth has delivered over 1000 internship positions in the private sector.

Through the MozYouth programme young people will be placed in paid internships in private companies located at each site in the CD Parks network. This critical experience enables them to bridge the gap between and education and employment. The program has been designed according to international best practice and has been supported by the UK, German and Swiss governments.  Employers value the flexibility to recruit entry-level talent in a time and cost-efficient manner.

Programmes designed to upskill the local workforce.

The network consists of two main Hubs, located in Afungi and Pemba, linked to CD Parks throughout the province. Support is given to allow local agribusinesses to meet the international standards demanded by the larger companies operating in the Afungi and Pemba Parks.

Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Programme

These programmes will encompass business incubation, mentoring and networking, entrepreneurship training, and promoting linkages with regional and international supply chains.

Training in entrepreneurship provides young people with the ability to recognize commercial opportunities, manage resources, and develop basic marketing, management and information technology skills needed to start a business. The incubation, mentoring and networking and linkage components will help locally owned enterprises to grow and prosper.

Female Employment Programme

A direct benefit from participation

Approximately one-third of smallholder farmers are represented by female-headed households, and their direct inclusion in the CD Parks network stands as a significant milestone in fostering gender equality and economic empowerment. Women will play a pivotal role in various facets of this network, primarily engaging in essential processing and packaging operations within agribusinesses and also contributing to catering services at each CD Parks site. This deliberate emphasis on female participation not only recognizes the pivotal role women play in agriculture but also aims to create meaningful employment opportunities, thereby promoting financial independence and socio-economic advancement within these communities.

Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability and the green economy

The CD Parks network sets a high standard for sustainability, surpassing international environmental norms and going above and beyond community expectations regarding corporate social responsibility. These fundamental principles underpin the network’s commitment to lasting environmental and social impact.

In line with these objectives, CD Parks places a strong emphasis on seizing the significant opportunities within the Green Economy, particularly in Cabo Delgado, which boasts substantial agricultural potential and abundant natural resources. In an ever-changing global landscape, CD Parks is geared to compete effectively within the Green Economy, offering the essential infrastructure and services necessary to attract investments that foster employment and generate value in the agriculture, forestry, and energy sectors.
