The graduation of 130 interns officially marked the conclusion of the 2024–2026 Internship Program of the MozYouth Foundation, funded by the Mozambique LNG Foundation. The initiative promoted paid professional internships for young people from northern Mozambique, with a particular focus on Cabo Delgado province.
Implemented over two years, the program benefited 500 young people (60% women), of whom more than 50% (246 out of the 470 who completed the internship) secured permanent employment or a source of income by the end of the program. The project covered 11 districts of Cabo Delgado province, allowing participants to gain practical professional experience in more than 100 partner companies and organizations.
“These numbers are more than statistics; they represent stories of lives redirected and hope restored across 11 districts in the province, made possible through the collaboration of more than 100 partner companies and organizations that believed in the potential of these young people,”highlighted Onorio Mamiel, Board Member of MozYouth.
“MozYouth, implemented here in Cabo Delgado by Cabo Delgado Parks, is a necessary, strategic and, above all, transformative initiative. It stems from the vision of driving the economic development of Cabo Delgado through the creation of industrial parks in six key districts: Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Pemba, Balama, Ancuabe and Montepuez,” Manuel added.
For the Mozambique LNG Foundation, programs such as MozYouth create practical pathways for young Mozambicans to gain professional experience, develop skills, and actively contribute to the country’s future.
In his speech, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, His Excellency Júlio Ambali Mendes, highlighted the strategic role of youth in national development and praised the initiative as an example of effective collaboration between the Government, the private sector, and development partners.
The Permanent Secretary underlined that internship programs are an important tool for preparing young people for the challenges of the labor market while also helping to reduce youth unemployment. Júlio Ambali Mendes encouraged the graduating youth to continue investing in their personal and professional development, noting that the experience gained throughout the program represents an important step toward building strong careers and actively contributing to the country’s development.
