On June 8th in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, the government, through the Northern Integrated Development Agency (ADIN), launched a program aimed at promoting the reconstruction and socio-economic resilience of women and girls displaced and repatriated due to the terrorist attacks in northern Mozambique.
In partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), the program is valued at 6 million dollars, which will be used for the reconstruction and empowerment of 93,400 women and girls affected by the conflict and facing multiple vulnerabilities in the districts of Palma, Mocímboa da Praia, Nangade, Muidumbe, Macomia and Quissanga, in Cabo Delgado province.
On that occasion, the president of the ADIN Executive Committee, Jacinto Loureiro, quoted by the Sunday newspaper, he said that with the project “we hope to improve the living conditions of women in a comprehensive way, both in their professional training and in the construction of more than 400 houses resilient to climate change”.
Cabo Delgado province has been facing terrorist attacks for more than six years, which have led to a military response since July 2021, with support from Rwanda and the Southern African Development Community.
