The Mozambique LNG Foundation has launched a new integrated renewable energy project in Cabo Delgado, designed to expand access to energy in one of Mozambique’s most underserved provinces.
The project plans to reach approximately 196,000 beneficiaries through solar home systems, while also electrifying around 25% of health centers and 10% of schools in the province — ensuring that essential public services continue to function in rural and off-grid communities.
Beyond households and public infrastructure, the project introduces energy solutions for productive use: solar irrigation, solar cold storage for agriculture and fisheries, and local training for the installation and maintenance of solar systems. A local office, 15 technicians and a network of 150 field agents support implementation on the ground — creating skilled employment opportunities in the process.
The project is aligned with Mozambique’s National Electrification Strategy and the national goal of universal energy access by 2030, following approaches led by Fundo de Energia, FP and the regulatory framework of Autoridade Reguladora de Energia and MINISTÉRIO DOS RECURSOS MINERAIS E ENERGIA.
