The Provincial Executive Council of Cabo Delgado, meeting on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, for its XV Ordinary Session, positively assessed the performance of the Pemba District Government for the third quarter of 2024.
The performance report presented by the District Administrator, Joaquina Adalberto Nordine, highlighted key achievements over the first nine months of the year. These included the capture of 6,641 tons of various fish, representing 71% of the annual target of 9,409 tons.
To improve water supply in the district, 5,780 new household water connections were made, achieving 75.1% of the planned 7,700 connections.
These are just some of the indicators reflecting the performance of the Pemba District Government.
Provincial Governor Valige Tauabo commended the district authorities for their efforts and encouraged them to remain committed to improving living conditions for the population.
With the rainy season approaching, the governor directed the district health authorities, in collaboration with various social actors, to intensify awareness campaigns on preventing and combating waterborne and other diseases.
The XV Ordinary Session of the Cabo Delgado Provincial Executive Council also reviewed the nine-month performance of the Provincial Directorate of Transport and Communications. Additionally, discussions included budget allocation and implementation plans for the Provincial Directorates of Culture and Tourism, Transport and Communications, Education, and the Provincial Directorate of Planning and Finance.
