The government of Cabo Delgado revealed last Friday (30) that more than 62.9 billion meticais, equivalent to one billion dollars, have already been invested in development projects in that province, located in the north of Mozambique.
Speaking during a seminar on business and investment opportunities in the provinces of Nampula, Cabo Delgado and Niassa, at the 59th edition of the Maputo International Fair (FACIM 2024), the Cabo Delgado provincial director of Industry and Commerce, Notiço Magaia, explained that these projects were mostly designed for the marble industry and the rehabilitation and expansion of the ports of Pemba and Palma.
Quoted by NewsIn his speech, the governor pointed out that Cabo Delgado is home to the largest national investment in the hydrocarbons and minerals sectors, with natural gas production already underway in the Rovuma basin, reinforcing its role as the country’s economic development engine.
On the same occasion, the Secretary of State in Nampula, Jaime Neto, stressed the investment opportunities in the province, highlighting the extensive virgin beaches and the vast land available for agriculture, as well as the potential for tourism, industry, fishing and the port and railway infrastructures.
The Secretary of State for Niassa, Lina Portugal, pointed to the province’s potential, such as the qualified workforce, trained at local universities, and the presence of cooperatives active in the craft, agriculture and processing sectors.
The 59th edition of FACIM took place from 26 August to 01 September at the Ricatla International Fair and Exhibition Centre, located in the district of Marracuene, Maputo province, with the theme “Industrialization: Innovation and Diversification of the National Economy”.
