In the first Supervisory Committee, Tauabo highlights gains obtained in the implementation of the health support project in Cabo Delgado.
Within the scope of the implementation of the Health Promotion Support Project in Cabo Delgado, many results were achieved in the field of Water and Sanitation, construction of integrated hospital waste management infrastructures, as well as direct support to Health Units in the Districts covered.
For this reason, the Governor of the Province, Valige Tauabo, delivering the opening speech of the first Project Supervision Committee, on March 27, 2025, highlighted the advances in the Water and Sanitation component and the Construction of Integrated Hospital Waste Management Infrastructures.
The Supervisory Committee has, among other objectives, to reflect on the strategy to be applied after the end of the Health Promotion Support Project in the Districts of Ancuabe, Chiúre and Montepuez.
The director highlighted the construction of 26 hospital waste incinerators in the Districts of Ancuabe, Chiúre and Montepuez, the construction of eight water sources that benefit close to 124,000 inhabitants, and the construction of just over 10,900 latrines.
Due to Cyclone Chido that hit some Districts of the Province and other adversities, the leader requested an extension in the implementation of the Health Promotion Support Project in Cabo Delgado.
The Director of the Office of the Governor of Cabo Delgado, Álvaro Floriano Gonçálves Júnior, providing context about the first Committee, explained that the event will assess compliance with the decisions of the last Supervisory Committee, discuss the report of the activities carried out in 2024, and reflect on the strategy to be adopted after the end of the project in the Districts of Ancuabe, Chiúre and Montepuez.
In turn, Philipe Puyo, responsible for the Wash Project at the Swiss Embassy, called on the implementing Districts to identify clear ideas and accelerate their implementation, within the scope of the completion of the Project in Ancuabe, Chiúre and Montepuez.
