To shorten the distances traveled from their homes to school, 133 girls from the Mecúfi District have received bicycles. This includes girls from Murrebue Basic School, who received 60 bicycles, Ngoma with 17, Muinde with 30, and 26 bicycles for girls from Natuco Basic School.
The handover ceremony took place on Friday, November 8, 2024, and was led by the Provincial Governor, Valige Tauabo.
In his speech, the governor reiterated his call to parents and guardians to stay involved in the educational journey of these girls, supporting their learning process.
To the girls, he urged them to make the best use of these means of transport to achieve the goals for which they were provided.
It is also worth noting that, as part of the “Eu Sou Capaz” program, in the coming days, the Provincial Directorate of Youth, Employment, and Sports will distribute bicycles to girls from Basic Schools in the districts of Montepuez, Mueda, and Chiúre.
